Poli Jakta,

A Rascal-Genius of the Theatre Thursday, Apr
10 : Manfred Istituto Italiano
di Cultura A year from the death of Carmelo
Bene, the most provocative, brilliant and contradictory theatre man of post-war Italy,
the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, in collaboration with the Italian International
Student Association, pays him homage with the presentation of two of his most effective
productions. Benes mesmerizing voice is intertwined with the music that Robert Schumann composed for Lord Byrons 1817 poetic endeavor. Maestro Piero Bellugi, who arranged and conducted the piece, will give an introduction, in English, to both Manfred and Carmelo Benes art. Dialogues spoken in Italian. Copies of the text in Italian and English will be available. In the second and third evenings we will present screenings of Bene's adaptations of Pinocchio (April 11) and Othello (May 6). In Italian WITHOUT subtitles. Maestro Bellugi will introduce the program on April 11.
